Here are Two Things…

March 16th, 2006

1. I believe that half of all sales receipts are printed in a type of disappearing ink. I’ve been carefully collecting records of all my art expenses this year and now that it comes time to tally them up, I find a folder full of blank pieces of paper. What gives? Shouldn’t these things last for at least a year? I’m talking to you, Pintchik and Pearl Paint!

2. Colman’s Mustard is delicious. If you plan on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, I would suggest trying some on a slice of corned-beef.

yeah. i hate the disappearing ink, too.

you’re telling me on the phone right now that the mustard may not be for everyone, because it’s “powerfully hot”. i say, “screw those pussies.”

We use a thermal printer from Epson. It’s probably one of the more popular printers for point of sales systems. I hear your concern and I will look into alternative INK based printers that will work with our point of sale system. For now, if your reciepts are left in a hot environment ie. car or in direct sun, this could cause the receipts to degrade / fade out. We archive transactions for 7 years and can reprint most transactions. That said Customer Privacy and Security are first priority at Pintchik. You would have to present your credit card (when applicable) and/or your faded receipt and we would be happy to re-print your transaction(s). If you are a contractor or a retail customer and have one of our frequent customer key chain cards, we can print your entire purchase history for a given year as well, currently at no charge. This is popular with contractor and customers that need their purchase history at year end or for tax purposes.

In closing, I love the web and BLOGS. Fortunately I stumbled onto this posting by accident. I strongly believe that consumers should register comments and concerns with management if possible. Nothing wrong with posting, but follow it up with a quick call or letter if time permits.

That said, I like my mustard hot. Thank’s for the heads up.

    Sincerely,

    Matthew Pintchik

    Matthew,

Thanks a lot for the comment.

I love Pintchik. It’s the best hardware store in the city—your staff is always very helpful and accessable.

The printer ink thing is a problem with several places and I was only singling out Pintchik for comedic effect and also because I always seem to be shopping there. I think that thermal-printed receipts are just prone to degradation, especially if you keep them in your wallet for a couple of weeks, which I sometimes do.

I own a key chain card and will be now using it at the end of the tax year to get a full record of my transactions.

    Thanks for a wonderful store.
